Apple

Smart Phone

I’ve finally taken the plunge. I have purchased an iPhone.

I have to say, I love the thing. I had exchange rocking with this thing within 3 minutes of getting it home on the wifi network. I had a Sprint service for many many years and they were pretty good to me for the most part. But the fact that they didn’t have the iPhone and the fact that Apple released as SDK for the thing put me over the top.

Ok, I like the fact that it is made from one piece of metal to form the body. There are a lot of advantages to that. Apple has also continued to make a very nice looking laptop. But do the users care about these things? I think that the business traveler will, but the home user sitting on the couch, I’m not so sure.

Apple confirms September 9 Special Event: “Let’s Rock”

Apple has sent out invites to a Special Event taking place on September 9, which is exactly one week from today. The invite features the iconic iPod silhouette along with the tagline “Let’s Rock.” It will be taking place at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in San Francisco—just down the street from the Moscone Center—at 10am Pacific Time next Tuesday.

Well, this is interesting. This may be only iPods, but there I’d be pumped if there is an iPhone announcement. My cell contract is up on 9/9 and I will be picking up an iPhone (or possibly something else) on 9/10 =)

iPhone 3G

In case you missed it, Apple had a small announcement today.

Yes, the iPhone 3G was announced with all the features that we expected. Obviously, 3G data speeds which are near WIFI speeds. This is pretty awesome for those that have experienced it. Also, Exchange support with push email and calendars. Better iWork and M$ office support. And an app store with a ton of sweet apps.

All I need now is an ssh or terminal application for the iPhone 3G and I WILL be picking one of these babies up.
