Apple

The Missing Save Button

At work, our corporate network is mainly all Microsoft. Sure there are roles filled by some linux machines and for our ISP services, its almost all unix/linux. But for email, calendaring, document sharing, its Micro$oft all the way.

I’m the black sheep of the office running OSX on a mini. I’m “testing” software, honest =)

Due to the nature of the corporate network, I find it is just easier to run the Microsoft office suite which means working with Entourage on a daily basis. Its not the greatest thing in the world, but it gets me by.

Livestrong

I’m not a health fanatic by any means. I try to eat somewhat healthy, I track my weight like a freak (its the programmer in me) and I work out regularly. May not to the freakish level of some of my co-workers (Example A & B)

One of the recent additions to the iTunes App Store has been a little application called Calorie Tracking from Livestrong.com.

This nice little application will allow you to track your weight, fitness activities and food consumption per day. And it ties back into a livestrong.com account where you have additional tools and fitness information.

iPhone Software Update 2.2

Another iPhone Software Update has come out. This one has bug fixes, Map and Email improvements, and the ability to download podcasts over the air.

I’m attempting to download the damn thing, but it is really slow right now. Anyone else having this issue?

XCode Errors

By trade, I’m a PHP/C programmer and rarely have time to really work on some fun stuff at home. But recently, I have been trying to spend some more time working on some fun projects and getting my hands dirty with XCode and the iPhone SDK.

I recently downloaded the latest and greatest version of XCode and overwrote the beta versions I had been running with before. The installation went fine and I decided I would load up one of the demo apps to make sure that everything was indeed still working as I expected.

Safari / Firefox lockup issues.

This weekend, I finally got around to installing the final iPhone SDK. Everything installed great and I figured that I would get around to playing with it sometime this week. Unfortunately, both my wife and I noticed that Safari would start to lock up more often and Firefox would do the same thing for me.

I of coarse did very little to debug this figuring that it might be bad ram. Well, last night I went to run XCode to start messing around with some new code and I got a rather cryptic error upon launching the system.
